Antarctic Peninsula
Between 2006 and 2009, I lived and worked in the Antarctic for the British Antarctic Survey. The job involved meteorology, work on physical sciences experiments at the station and at a number of deep field sites towards the interior of the continent, and contribution to the community and the running of the self-sufficient station.
Every year during the quiet winter months we had two holidays, each a week long - this allowed us to travel far from the station using skiidoos and sledges, and gave further opportunities for mountaineering, skiing, and crevasse exploration.
I have posted a small selection of my photos, covering the trip by ship from the UK to the Antarctic Peninsula, and my 2 winters and 3 summers of residence at the station.
